The Aims & Rules Clinic is an educational tool developed by NAVHDA to help dog owners and handlers understand the testing system. The clinics are conducted by designated NAVHDA Senior Judges and Clinic Leaders. Aims & Rules Clinics cover a

variety of topics over two days, including informal classroom style instruction on the NAVHDA philosophy, test mechanics, and the scoring system for each test.

 

Participants will also take to the field and water to judge and score dogs being run in a mock test setting. After each section the participants and the Clinic Leader will discuss the dog’s performance, where the performance would fall in the NAVHDA scoring system, and any strengths of weaknesses in training and handling. Many clinic leaders also include helpful tips and tricks on handling dogs in NAVHDA tests.

 

Cost

The cost of the two-day clinic is $100 for active Del-Val Members or $125 for non-members. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided each morning and there will be a variety of drinks available throughout the day. Participants must bring their own lunch each day.

 

Registration Information (Registration Form)

Registration for the Aims & Rules Clinic is limited to 20 individuals and will be accepted on a first-come, first- served basis. The clinic will be held rain or shine, and participants must attend both days. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Individuals will be notified via email upon acceptance of their registration and payment. Incomplete registrations and/or registrations without payment in full will not be accepted.

 

Waitlist

Individuals that submit registrations and payments after the clinic has reached capacity will be put on a waiting list in the order in which they were received. Openings that become available due to cancellations will be filled from the waitlist. Payment will not be processed unless an individual is moved from the waitlist to the confirmed list of participants. Any registration on the waitlist will be held through the week of June 24th and then returned via mail if not used.

 

You may remove yourself from the waitlist or request to not be on the waitlist at any time and have your registration/check returned by writing to delvaltesting@icloud.com

 

Cancellation Policy

The only way to withdraw from the clinic is by sending a written notification to the Clinic Secretary by letter or email. To qualify for a refund, (i) your withdrawal notification must be received by the Clinic Secretary more than 30 days prior to the relevant clinic date; (ii) the clinic must be at maximum capacity at the time such withdrawal notice is received by the Clinic Secretary; and (iii) if the Clinic Secretary is able to fill your slot by an applicant that has paid the relevant application fee, then you will receive a refund equal to 80% of your application fee. If you withdraw within 30 days of the relevant test date, no refund will be allowed.

 

Dog Policy

Dogs used in the clinic will be obtained by the Del-Val Chapter. Please do not bring your own dog(s) with you to the clinic as there will not be any opportunity for them to participate in any of the clinic activities.
