"Take a Kid Pheasant Hunting"
On Saturday 11/6/04 the N.J.Division of Fish & Wildlife with the assistance of The N.J.State Federation of Sportsman's Clubs held it's annual "Take a Kid Pheasant Hunting" day with great success. From the reports so far all WMA's had record numbers of youth hunters all areas ran smoothly and enjoyed great weather (this year even the temperature felt like hunting season) aside from the great weather the success of this day was made possible the fantastic volunteers who donated their time and talent to provide a quality outdoor experience for the future of our sport.
This year at Colliers Mills myself and Mike Giansani from the Del-Val Chapter of NAVHDA had the pleasure of having with us Marty McHugh the Director of The Division of Fish and Wildlife and Cathy Blumig a writer for The N.J.Federated Sportsman. We had Director McHugh planting pheasants and mentoring the kids and Cathy took a lot of photos look for an upcoming article in the Federation newspaper.
In the few years I've been involved I've seen this program grow into an event thats becoming more and more popular every year. The credit for much of this as far as the quality of the hunt in no small way goes to members of the Del-Val Chapter of NAVHDA who have been stepping up regularly for the last few years with knowledge, experience and GREAT dogs and have been providing the kids with what amounts to a professional quality guided hunt.
I'd really like to thank everyone who came out and helped, from the N.J.State Federation of Sportsmans Clubs, the kids and especially from me, your efforts are appreciated more than you know. thank you all!!
